FAQs

  • Most insurance does not cover GI map or other functional tests unfortunately (they’ll get there someday!)

You can submit for reimbursement afterwards and some will. If you order through me you can pay for a portion of the test with FSA or HSA.

  • It depends on person + symptoms + results but customized protocols are created with these factors in mind:

    • Nutrition suggestions

    • Sleep/habits

    • Movement/exercise

    • Stress reduction practices

    • Specific supplement protocol (detox/drainage pathway support & then 5 R protocol: remove, replace, reinoculate, repair + rebalance)

  • After running many tess with clients over the years I can confidently say cheaper stool tests don't work so you get what you pay for. I would have rather spent $500-$600 on a stool test 10 years ago vs thousands on pointless GI appointments, colonoscopies, endoscopies, unhelpful stool tests. Other tests only ruled out things like E Coli or Giardia but didn't give me any other information on the state of my gut. It's tough because these tests are not cheap, but they save most people a LOT of time & money in the long run.

  • Yes, the GI Map does test specifically for Candida.

And there are indications for SIBO. Certain types of overgrown good or bad bacteria will give you clues re: SIBO from a GI map + you'll have a lot more data to see what else is going on because SIBO (and Candida) does not occur in isolation.

SIBO testing is still not great in general. The only true SIBO test is a breath test but it's not perfectly accurate (many false negatives and positives). I often recommend a combination of SIBO breath test + GI map, or just a GI map... but it depends on the case!

  • Yes! Specifically gluten, but other markers on the GI map will indicate general inflammation & food sensitivities.

  • You will want to wait 2-4 weeks to take the test if you're currently on ABX!
But it's an amazing test to help you recover from ABX after you're done w/ them.
